Summary: Aeneid

"Aenidacombines various elements typical of both Homeric epics within a unified narrative story. The picture of Aeneas' adventures during his wanderings across the seas and lands is modeled on the "Odyssey", the picture of warfare - on the "Iliad".

Aeneas, after escaping from burning Troy with his father, wife, son and a group of companions, arrives in Italy after a few years of wandering, where he establishes a colony from which the Romans were supposed to come.
