If anyone thought that the work of a farmer was easy, he must play in Farming Simulator 17, by Giants Software. This is the annual installment of the cycle, in which we play the role of the owner of a small cultivated plot, and our main task is ... to sow, plow, cultivate and sell our crops.

Don't go without a tutorial

It was a good move to follow some tutorials first. In addition to the main one, from which we will learn how to move around our field, we have several more extensive ones at our disposal, which will tell us about the details of growing individual plants, breeding animals or the process of selling goods. Before starting the actual game, it is better to use them, because the first approach to the game will almost certainly be burnt. When starting the adventure with farming, we have only two maps at our disposal, one of which is already known to everyone from the previous part. A bit poor. Due to the location of the map, we change from a farmer to a farmer. The first thing that strikes us after loading the location is quite outdated graphics. Would have been great… about 10 years ago. There are nice views, detailed machines and even leaves on the trees, but it all looks quite artificial and angular.

First plot

Our first field, which we get at the beginning of the game, is sown with wheat that needs to be mowed. And here the number of machines available for purchase and the detail of their delivery are a very positive surprise. When getting into the cabin, we have all the controls, levers and buttons in front of our eyes. It is not enough to press the 'mow' command. You have to prepare the machine, set it up properly, lower the cutting unit and then you can get to work. Unfortunately, this is where the delight ends. Regardless of the machine we control, the ride is at least strange. In a similar way, he drives vehicles in racing games. There is also a complete lack of reflection of physics, even the simplest mechanics such as a collision. While driving, the textures often overlap and shine through each other. However, one cannot say a bad word about the wealth of the world that we have come to have at our disposal. We have an abundance of agricultural machinery, which most players will hear about for the first time in Farming Simulator 17. Many crops to grow, animal husbandry, production, and even the possibility of felling trees - we have plenty of activities available.

Learning the basics of economics

Performing work on our own field is not the only thing that Giants Software has prepared for us. We have many places at our disposal where we can sell what we have produced. It is worth analyzing all such points carefully, because the prices of products differ significantly from each other. Goods can even be transported by train. In addition to profits from sales, we can carry out orders for neighbors - of course, for a fee. During the game, our yard will grow more and more and it will be necessary to hire helpers who will help us in the daily activities of a farmer. Unfortunately, it was a bit miscalculated by the producers of the game, because it is much more profitable to work at your neighbor's than at home. New machines are devilishly expensive, so quite often such offers will be tempting. The system for issuing instructions to its employees is also lame.

Do you want to plow?

A very interesting option is the ability to play in multiplayer mode, where together with random players or friends we can cultivate our field. Joint action will definitely speed up the work, and driving a tractor will no longer be so monotonous when our friend is riding a tractor next to it. A good solution to boredom is also a radio mounted in each vehicle. In addition to a few good songs, you can start the source from the Internet.

Farming Simulator 17 is quite a good simulator when it comes to experiencing the very process of cultivating a piece of land. There's a lot to plan, a lot to do, and even more to watch out for. Unfortunately, the physics of the game is quite lame and driving heavy agricultural machines is quite unreal. Of course, there are people who won't mind it. And kudos to them for that. Favorite radio station, a cold elbow and the sun warming the back. What more could you want from life?
